“What? We have to move?” Those are the words I had to hear my daughter utter earlier this year. My head dropped as my wife and I told our children the sad news-Our lives revolve around them. Also devastating, was that I had finally built up my photography business, was getting relatively consistent bookings, was making a profit and was finally gaining some traction.
In the coming month we will pack up our belongings, the weight of relocating my part time business is beginning to take it’s toll. After doing a lot of research on various forums, speaking with mentors and doing some soul searching, I became excited about transition. This was going to give me an opportunity to fine-tune my brand, pricing and policies, so I am slowly getting ready to take on this new location by storm!
So, When the topic of photography comes up at our new location, I will proudly announce that I was new to the area and am looking for new clients. I plan on starting a new blog series that will debut next month. This entails teaming up with a bunch of local businesses in our new location. I will photograph their business, products and services. I will also be doing an interview with the owner. All of this will be featured in a spotlight blog post with links to their business. In return, they keep my card and coupon at their business to hand out to their clients who are looking for photography services.
I am also offering holiday mini sessions. This gives clients in the new area a little taste of me. I’m offering 25 holiday cards with their session. This will give 25 extra people a little taste of me, as the card hangs on their refrigerator. With all of these ideas, I’m confident my name will spread out there and it’s only a matter of time before I’m back at it again.
